A rating scale tells you a number. It doesn't tell you why.

Ask "how familiar are you with our brand, 1 to 5" and you get a number with no story behind it. A video survey asks the same question but lets people actually explain the answer - what they've heard, where, and whether it stuck. That's the context a spreadsheet full of ratings can't give you.

Route respondents by how familiar they already are

One question up front sorts your audience before they answer anything else. Someone who has never heard of you gets a different follow-up than someone who considered you and picked a competitor.

Brand familiarity

How familiar are you with our brand?

Never heard of it before today
Heard of it, never used it

First impression

Asked what they now think of the brand from this survey alone, to measure a true cold first impression.

Consideration gap

Asked what has stopped them from trying it, surfacing the exact objection to address.

Existing customer

Routed to a different question about what made them choose you over the alternatives.

Let people explain their answer, not just pick one

A multiple-choice option can't capture "I saw an ad, ignored it, then a friend recommended you." A short video or audio answer can - and it takes the respondent less time than typing it out.

A traditional brand survey

  • A 1-to-5 scale with no room to explain the answer
  • Every respondent gets the same flat list of questions
  • Weeks of lead time and a research firm to design and run it
  • Results scattered across export files and slide decks
  • A number on a dashboard, with no story behind it

A Clipform brand awareness survey

  • Respondents explain their answer in their own words
  • Branching sorts by familiarity before the real questions start
  • Launch in minutes, share one link, no research firm needed
  • Every response - video, audio, or text - lands in one dashboard
  • Read the actual quotes, not just a chart of averages
